The original 21 Jump Street was a police drama TV series back in the late 80's to early 90's. The series focuses on a squad of youthful-looking undercover police officers investigating crimes in high schools, colleges, and other teenage venues. This is actually what catapulted Johnny Depp's stature as teen heartthrob back then!
Fast forward to 2012, we've got Channing Tatum & Jonah Hill bringing 21 Jump Street in the radar.
In high school, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) was a dork and Jenko (Channing Tatum) was the popular jock. After graduation, both of them joined the police force and ended up as partners riding bicycles in the city park. Since they are young and look like high school students, they are assigned to an undercover unit to infiltrate a drug ring that is supplying high school students synthetic drugs.
